Juicy 3

Three records made inside eleven months of each other, in a manor house near Bath, a Brisbane warehouse and a studio in the Pentland Hills. A guitar band who came back sounding watched. A band who could play anything and chose pop. And two brothers running synths through tape until the seventies came out wrong.

A record that shifted the course of alternative music without announcing it. OK Computer trades straightforward guitar rock for atmosphere, tension and detail, laying the groundwork for much of what followed. Decades on, it still feels precise, unsettled and completely essential.

JUST LANDED

Regurgitator - Unit (Vinyl 180g)

BACKBONE
$56.00 AUD
Drum machines where the guitars should be. Synths with the gloss turned all the way up and the warmth turned off. Songs that arrive, land the hook and leave before they outstay it. Choruses built like advertising jingles and just as hard to shake. Then a string arrangement out of nowhere at the end, played completely straight, as if the last half hour never happened.

JUST LANDED
Synths that sound like they've been left out in the weather. Tape hiss treated as an instrument rather than a fault. Beats built from hip-hop but slowed until they stop moving forward. Children's voices arriving from somewhere down a hallway, half caught, never explained. It feels less like listening to a record than remembering one.
